Not too sure

So im thinking im a little behind on my blogs...we turned in our papers but for some reason i think were still blogging and i got the idea we are not...SO what to talk about...I wasnt able to make class this past wednesday but monday night we talked about media. Media is a major part of society today. Newspaper and magazines, TV and music, all of these and more allow people to express their freedom of speech. My question is though, like we discussed in class, if we only have a handful of major corporations in charge of all media then whose idea, point of view, and belief, are we really getting. Richard Murdock owns almost every big media corporation, u mean to tell me he has no say on what goes on his stations? Or that he is fare in what he shows? I have to disagree. As adults we get to choose what we want to watch or hear but then what about children? They are to young to know the difference when they are being lied to or sold to and they are more apt. to believe what they see on TV. im scared for the future!

almost all done

So first i wan to start by saying Its almost time for graduation! I finshed my first un-bound copy of my capstone today and I cant wait to turn it in tommarow! Good luck to all those in the same boat! Second...how many of you felt kinda sick while watching that movie in class on wednesday! I did! I almost felt like walking out at one point. I am all for free speech but those people that were against the environmentalist were taking it to far...If u are in fear of you life and your community leaders and police officers can not take control of the situation then what kind of country are we living in? Everyone was afraid of that radio show host that no one wanted to stand up for what is right! I dont understand why one man has so much control over an entire community? Why dont people protest infront of his radio station, why dont they protest the advitisors he gets for his shows and why doesnt the local government stop him from giving out people's name and where they live??? I just dont get it. Everyone has the right in America to live anyway they choose and believe in anything they choose and to support any organization they choose but if someone beliefs takes away someone's elses or if someones rights causes someone else to live in fear then that is not right at all! I hope that city finds resolution but most of all i hope they run that man out of town!

Back to school

I hope everyone had a good break! I really didnt get one but I have to say the half break I did get was great. I think Im a little behind in my blogs so Im not tooooo sure what week I should be on but I guess Ill talk about IP Rights. IP means intellectual property rights and it is the topic my group is going to focus on for the final presentations. How many of you have ever downloaded music off the internet without paying? Or watched a burned movie? Well if you said u have then you have broken Intellectual property rights and could be fined or even jailed. Taking someone elses work with out giving them compensation is stealing no matter the situation and as college students and masters of the internet we find ways to get access to these items all the time. I dont want to get tooo far into it becaue you all will learn more about it with our presentation, but ask ur self this question...If you were trying to put out an album and all of a sudden your music was leaked onto the internet, people were getting your songs but you werent getting any money for it, how would you feel? How would you feel if u were trying to make a profit doing something you loved but because of the blackmarket, and illegal cd burning, you couldnt get any money? just a thought...

Homosexuality...So whats the problem?

I really dont understand how it could be the 21st century and people still have a problem with homosexuality. If people want to love in a way that is different then you what gives you the right to judge them? I think in the crazy, sad, world we live in today happiness is the one virtue everyone should be able to obtain and no one should be able to stop that because of a personal preference. The school teacher that got fired because she wanted to use a book that had homosexuals in it was not doing anything wrong in my opinion. Reading about someone that is gay is not going to make the reader gay! How many people saw Brokeback Mountain? Are you a homosexual now because you watched it? Some things are just out of control in this world. I just dont get it!

Raceism lingering in the background...?!?!?!?

I didn't want to say what I was thinking in class on Wednesday night about Racism in the Dover trial but i could not help it. I understand the importance to the school board and the supporters of I.D. to give the children every opportunity out there to learn how we came to be but I think that the idea behind Intelligent Design underlines some buried Racism. If some people consider it a " slap in the face" to be considered to come from animals, or that " God created man equally", then how come there was Racism and slavery in the United States??? How come we treated people of color like animals, not only during slavery but how about During World War II with the Internment of the Japanese, German, Italian/ Sicilians??? How come we called these people animals???If we are all equal then why is there segregation still to this day? And most of all How come the U.S. seems to be the only country with this problem??? I dunno I think that maybe some people in Dover have discrimination deep within themselves and how dare someone classify them to those lower levels that we once considered people of color to be. I know I may be way far stretched but when we were watching that movie I could not help but get that Idea and it keeps playing out in my head!

Who almost cried @ the speaker?...I did!

I have to say that im very glad i did go to see the speaker after class on Wednesday. When he was describing how it felt to be in that pitch black room with no light, and barely any air I couldn't help but feel sorrow and sadness, anger and disbelief for all those men and women forced to be locked in those rooms, with no rights or dignity just to be shipped over seas and experience the nightmare of slavery. I could tell that trip to Africa at that particular time in his life will never be forgotten and honestly I dont think i'll ever forget the way he described that feeling as well.
